Victory Day will be celebrated in Ireland with charity chess tournament

The International Chess Tournament, dedicated to the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will be held on May 2 by the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots' Organizations in Ireland. The tournament will have a charitable status, the proceeds will go to three veterans of the Great Patriotic War, according to RussianIreland.com.

The chess tournament will be held online, everyone of any age can join it, applications should be sent to chess.tournaments20@gmail.com. Participants will contribute twenty euros, the fees will be sent to the accounts of three veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Kazakhstan.

Nikolay Demin, Vasily Makienko and Kozhatay Nekibaev will receive assistance within the framework of the action. Tanker Nikolai Dyomin went to war in the fall of 1943, participated in the liberation of Belarus and Lithuania as part of the 1st Baltic Front. Vasily Makienko fought on the 3rd Belorussian Front, and Kozhatay Nekibaev liberated Soviet cities from the enemy, as well as Bratislava and Budapest. All three have orders of the Patriotic War and other awards.
