Three Russian women were taken out of the natural disaster zone that occurred in Lachen, India, RIA Novosti reports. According to the Consulate General, the tourists were evacuated by helicopter.

The Indian state of Sikkim was hit by floods. Heavy rains caused a lake located high in the Himalayas to overflow. Lake waters flooded the Teesta River and destroyed the dam. As a result, flooding occurred downstream of the river. The number of victims exceeded 80 people. Almost 150 more people are considered missing.

This area is popular with tourists; at the time of the flood, about 3,000 people were trapped there. There were no casualties among foreign citizens.
