Moscow plans to continue discussing ways to resolve the conflict in the Middle East within the framework of its BRICS chairmanship, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. The head of state said this during an emergency summit of the association, held online on Tuesday, November 21. Its topic was the situation in the Gaza Strip, RIA Novosti reports.

The Russian president commended the UN resolution as a positive step, acknowledging its focus on humanitarian pauses crucial for hostage release and civilian evacuation from the Gaza Strip. Vladimir Putin emphasized that a comprehensive ceasefire would be the optimal solution. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for Egypt's assistance in facilitating the evacuation of Russians from the Gaza Strip.
