Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Yuli Edelstein joint a proposition of his counterpart Valentina Matvienko to work out a package of measures on keeping memories of the WW2 events and of unacceptability of the war history distortion. In his opinion, this should be done on the Parliamentary level, according to RIA Novosti.

Israeli politician is sure that other countries must join this initiative. He added that nationals of dozens of countries suffered fighting against Fascists, whereas many Jewish communities were completely wiped off. This is the reason why, Edelstein believes, many governments are obliged to join this commemorative campaign in various formats.

He made this statement during the video conference held on April 11 between the Knesset and the Russian Federation Council. This session was dedicated to the Commemoration day of the concentration camps’ prisoners.

Edelstein has also expressed gratitude to the Russian counterparts for keeping memories of Holocaust – genocide of the European Jews during WWII. He reminded that schools in Russia conducted a lesson on this topic this year. The lesson took place on January 27 – at the International Catastrophe Day.

Note that the Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko proposed to set up a target group for popularizing the idea of acknowledging WWII Victory Over Fascism the world heritage of humanity.
