A template of the long-range aircraft CRAIC CR929, a joint-venture between Chinese Aviation Corporation (Comac) and Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has been presented at the AirShow China in Zhuhai. The two countries are persuaded that the plane (which will be ready in seven-nine years) will compete with leading aircraft producers Airbus and Boing, RIA Novosti reports. UAC President Yuri Slyusar says that Chinese market along will demand about 1000 aircrafts in the next twenty years. He also noted the interest among other buyers.

The guests of the air show got the opportunity to see what the aircraft would look like, its passenger cabin and a cockpit. The model has a scale of one to one ratio. A twenty-two-meter fuselage obtains interior decoration in Russian and Chinese styles. Potential buyers and visitors could watch and sit in the chairs of the first, business and economy classes.

Until the end next year they plan to complete the stage of design and choosing the basic systems and equipment supplier. Then the aircraft final appearance will be presented. The parties decided to open the Engineering Center for its development in Russia. CR929's basic configuration accommodates 280 seats and 12-hour non-stop flight. There will be elongated and shortened fuselage models.

According to the developers, they plans to start CR929 test flights in 2025. The aircraft development will cost 13-20 billion dollars. The authors of the project assure that the new machine will take a significant market share in China, Russia etc.
