Russia is ready to provide countries in need with vaccines to protect against coronavirus infection. President Vladimir Putin said during the G20 summit, which opened on Saturday, November 21, the website of the President of the Russian Federation reports. The forum is chaired by Saudi Arabia via videoconference.

The Russian leader called the scale of the problems faced by mankind this year unprecedented. The pandemic claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and seriously disrupted the growth of national economies, millions of people lost their income.

Vladimir Putin called long-term unemployment the main risk for today, which can lead to an increase in poverty and social disorder. And the G20's task is to prevent this, the president is sure.

Vladimir Putin recalled that Russia had resorted to unprecedented anti-crisis measures, prioritizing the basic value - the life and health of citizens. But a number of states do not have this opportunity. The IMF and the World Bank have provided significant assistance, but the steps taken are not enough, the affected countries need additional support.

Severe problems have accumulated in international trade. Unfortunately, they are exacerbated by the practice of unilateral sanctions.

Putin called on the G20 leaders to look for common approaches to reforming the World Trade Organization in accordance with the current challenges. The world needs a stable and efficient trading system that operates on universal principles and norms.

Russia supports the idea that effective and safe vaccines should be available to everyone.

Competition in the production of vaccines is inevitable, but humanitarian considerations must be at the forefront, the Russian leader stressed. He called on the world community to use the current situation to strengthen key international institutions that will allow all states to develop effectively, based on the UN Charter and the principles of international law.
