The country celebrates Russia Day on Monday, June, 12. Events in honor of the holiday date are held in all regions, as well as in diplomatic missions and other foreign institutions, receptions are planned with the participation of foreign guests and Russian compatriots, Maria Zakharova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's spokesperson, said.

On June 12, 1990, the first Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR adopted the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the RSFSR. The holiday became the Day of Russia in 2002. Maria Zakharova noted that the idea of national unity of all the peoples of Russia is traditionally associated with the holiday.

Zakharova recalled that this year Russia is celebrating the holiday in the conditions of the all-out hybrid war being waged against it, unleashed by the West headed by Washington. Its goal is to impede the internal development of Russia, weaken national self-identity, and Ukrainian neo-Nazis are chosen as a tool.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will present state awards to cultural figures. The names of the awardees were announced on June, 9. The award was given to the restorers of the Tretyakov Gallery Andrey Golubeyko and Alexandra Orlovskaya for restoring Ilya Repin's painting "Ivan the Terrible", the permanent artistic director of the Pyatnitsky Choir Alexandra Permyakova and the team of the "Challenge" space drama - director Klim Shipenko, actress Yulia Peresild and the head of Channel One Konstantin Ernst. Karen Shakhnazarov, head of the Mosfilm film concern, was awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of humanitarian work. Olga Demicheva, President of the international charitable organization "Doctor Lisa's Fair Aid", was noted in the field of human rights activities. Yulia Zimova, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, will receive the award for her charitable activities.
