Finnish tourist Juha Perttula, who returned from St. Petersburg, said in an interview with Iltalehti that Western sanctions did not worsen the economic situation in Russia and did not affect the lives of Russians, RIA Novosti reports.

Juha Perttula often visits Russia and has the opportunity to compare life in the country in different periods. According to him, the sanctions did not affect the life of St. Petersburg - many people visit cafes and restaurants, and the stores offer a wide range of goods.

At the same time, the tourist admitted that he did not find Finnish products on the shelves, but saw goods from other Western countries on sale. He also noted the trend towards Russification of foreign brands.

The Finn also noticed the increased number of Chinese cars and the decrease in the number of foreign tourists in St. Petersburg.

The tourist admitted that on the way back, Finnish customs officers asked him questions about some goods purchased in Russia at a low price.
