Hundreds of events took place in the outgoing year in 102 states at the initiative of Russian communities and compatriots' organizations with the support of the Government Commission on Compatriots Abroad.

In 2021, educational and patriotic events, as well as discussions devoted to the popularization of the Russian language and culture of Russia have taken place. Compatriots provided assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Russian-speaking residents of foreign countries who found themselves in difficult situations.

In 2021, in a number of states the need to protect the rights and legitimate interests of Russians have increased. The head of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Nurizade, thanked everyone involved in the events for the work and stressed that many international events in various formats are planned for 2022.
