Russia sent 650 tons of sunflower oil to Cuba as part of the World Food Program (WFP) under the auspices of the UN. The humanitarian cargo was met in Havana, the ceremony was attended by the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Viktor Coronelli, the WFP representative Etienne Laband and local officials, TASS reports.
It is noted that the delivered cargo will be distributed free of charge among the population of the island. The Russian diplomat hopes that the delivered humanitarian aid will make life easier for the residents of Cuba, especially those in distress, children and the elderly.
Victor Coronelli called the act of humanitarian support proof of Moscow’s commitment to the food security of brotherly Cuba, which is experiencing sanctions pressure from the United States.
In August, Russia sent to Cuba, through the mediation of the World Health Organization, about 26 tons of medical supplies and consumables for medical institutions. This will make it possible to provide medical care to at least 10,000 Cubans in different parts of the country.
