Russian language promoted in Tanzania, Myanmar, Morocco and Venezuela

Concerts, lectures, master classes and educational seminars are included in the program aimed at promoting the Russian language abroad. It was prepared by the Ministry of Culture with the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry. It covered several countries, including Morocco, Myanmar, Tanzania and Venezuela. The project will continue next year, the Russian Ministry of Culture reports.

Residents of Tanzania attended a variety of events that took place at the Russian House in Dar es Salaam. They called this project the biggest event in recent years. A photo exhibition presented the sights of Russian cities and the beauty of nature in different regions of the country. The guests were given a tour in Swahili. The main event was a big concert, where arias from operas by Russian composers, Russian romance and folk songs were performed. In addition, Russian performers conducted master classes on singing and piano playing. As part of the project, seminars were organized for students of Russian language courses and the preparatory faculty at the Russian House.

In Myanmar, residents of Yangon visited a photo exhibition depicting Russian landmarks. There was also a meeting dedicated to family values. Participants were introduced to Russian words that refer to family members. The theme of another event was Pushkin's fairy tales. Students of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music took part in it with an interactive program. The central event was a large concert, where music on instruments of various peoples of Russia was performed.

In Venezuela, the celebration of the Russian language and folk art was held in the center of Caracas. The program included Russian language lessons, a presentation of reproductions of outstanding Russian painters, as well as the Evening interactive project dedicated to Russian fairy tales and folk amusements. It was organized by the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. The Zykina Russia ensemble and Honored Artist of Russia Olesya Evstigneeva took the stage of the country’s National Theater.

In Morocco, the Russian Pyatnitsky Folk Choir gave two concerts. The renowned team took to the main stage of the capital on December, 25. The audience gave a very warm welcome to the singers performing folk and contemporary songs. The dancers were also greeted with a standing ovation. The team also performed in Casablanca.
