203 theaters from 93 cities have joined All-Russian Theater Marathon

The All-Russian Theater Marathon, which started at the beginning of the year in Vladivostok, ended on November 12, TASS reports. All Russian regions joined it in turn, the tour passed from one to another. Gradually the relay race reached the westernmost point - Kaliningrad. For six months, 203 theaters and cultural institutions from 93 Russian cities took part in the marathon. The audience of the Theater Marathon exceeded seven million people, including online viewers. 

According to the head of the organizing committee of the Year of the Theater Olga Golodets, the theater marathon is able to unite the entire cultural space of the country and attract a large number of public. She noted that the marathon helped bring to the audience the most interesting works of leading performance teams.

The results of the theater marathon will be announced on November 14. In two days, the Mariinsky Theater’s historical stage will turn into a space of modern stage technology. A theatrical area with augmented reality will unfold in the lobby. An exhibition of the Bakhrushin Theater Museum called Philanthropists and theater patrons of imperial Russia is going to work there.

A 3D performance staged by Andrey Kaydanovsky for the ballet soloists Nikishi Fogo and Masayu Kimoto will take place in the hall. The production uses 3D projections. Modern dance choreographer Galina Gracheva will show a dance with industrial robots. Mimes will interact with their projections in real and virtual space thanks to video mapping on the scenery.

The audience will listen to the speeches of theatrical masters of the past, who will talk about the future of the theater.

Guests arriving in St-Petersburg through the Pulkovo airport and the Moscow railway station will be able to get acquainted with an exhibition of photographs that reflect the whole history of the Theater Marathon.
