Pakistan has applied to join BRICS, TASS reports. The republic's ambassador to Moscow, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, hopes that Islamabad will join the union next year.

Previously, about 20 countries around the world have expressed interest in establishing partnerships with BRICS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called this fact one of the most important evidence of the rejection of unipolarity.

According to the minister, it is already clear to everyone that the world is acquiring the features of multipolarity, and it is becoming important for states to find reliable partners. And BRICS is considered one of the strongholds of reliability.

Lavrov recalled that at the BRICS summit, which was held in South Africa, six states joined the BRICS countries. The association will include Argentina, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. According to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the decision will take effect from the beginning of next year.
