Russia has taken over the chairmanship of BRICS in 2024, TASS reports. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the main areas of activity will be the development of cooperation in economy and politics, as well as the financial sector and security. In addition, it is planned to expand contacts in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Putin recalled that last year several more countries joined BRICS: Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. It proves that the authority of BRICS is growing stronger and its role in world affairs is expanding.

Vladimir Putin promised that Moscow will do everything possible to ensure that the new participants fully integrate into the work of BRICS, preserving traditions and being guided by existing experience.

It is planned to continue cooperation in scientific research, high technology, healthcare, and ecology.

The motto of Russia's BRICS chairmanship will be ''strengthening multilateralism for fair global development and security,'' Putin noted.
